ACEs and The Brain
Adverse Childhood Experiences are prevalent and it is estimated that 60%-80% of adults in the United States have experienced at least one. Mental Health clinicians are more likely to encounter individuals with significant trauma and higher than average ACE scores. It is crucial for clinicians to understand the impact of ACEs and PCEs and how brain development is hindered by trauma, and help clients build resilience to achieve long-term recovery and wellness.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to identify Adverse Childhood Experiences and their own ACE score
2. Participants will develop an understanding of how early trauma impacts brain development and can lead to cognitive impairment
3. Participants will increase their knowledge of Positive Childhood Experiences, resiliency and buffering relationships
